Pure 9. Described recently by one music journalist as "A real band with real attitudes - a band with this kind of swagger had better be good". Thankfully they are. Very. You may remember Pure 9 from the opening slot of last yearís Sunday show ñ or rather you would have had you been brave enough to endure the bucketing rain that threatened to put the whole show off. Fortunately, many of you did, this year will see a deserved and welcome return for the Wirral based indie rockers. 2003 has been a busy year for Pure 9. The band have been playing across the country in support of their last release the highly acclaimed 'Beauty Dies Screaming EP'. These dates have included supporting artists such as The Cooper Temple Clause, The 80's matchbox B line disaster and The Kennedy Soundtrack. As a result of these gigs the band have enjoyed increased exposure including extensive airplay a good deal favourable press. Keen to seize the impetus gleaned from that, the band returned to the studio in May of this year to start recording some of their new songs written and played during the course of their travels. Described by the band as "more open sounding, less conformist - the result of writing and recording when everyone is on top of their game". This record is being produced under the watchful eyes of both Tony and Chris Griffiths of The Real People and is due for release at the end of August. Not to be missed, this time round Pure 9 are on Saturday night - and we're confident you'll see why. www.pure9.com
